Bishkek City
Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan, a city of republican significance, and the administrative center of the Chui region. The main transport hub, industrial, and administrative center of the country. The modern cultural, political, and economic center of the republic.
The city of Bishkek is located on a fertile upland plain, occupying a high-altitude zone almost from the foot of the northern slope of the Kyrgyz ridge in the south (the heights of the southern micro-districts are about 900 m) and capturing a zone with heights of about 700 m in the north. The central latitudinal zone of the city has heights of about 740-760 m.
The climate of Bishkek, as in the Chui Valley and in the area of the northern slope of the Kyrgyz ridge, is determined by the latitude and altitude of the place, the territorial remoteness from the oceans, the peculiarities of local orographic conditions and atmospheric circulation. According to these indicators, the studied area is located within the boundaries of a Subtropical intracontinental climate, represented by a wide band in the south of all Central Asian republics of the CIS south of the 43° parallel.
On the Issyk-Kul route from Bishkek, especially during the holiday season, there is a significant flow of buses, minibusses, and taxis. From Bishkek to Issyk-Kul, you can also get by train to the city of Balykchy (formerly Rybachye) at the beginning of the Issyk-Kul coast, and then by car to the city of Cholpon-Ata — the resort center of the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, where there are many boarding houses, as well as to the city of Karakol (formerly Przhevalsk) — the administrative center of Issyk-KulKul region, located 10-12 km from the eastern shore of the lake.
